COLLABORATIONS.
Met with the Executive Director of the Maryland Commission for Civil Rights and members of his
executive team. We had a lengthy discussion about best practices. While we covered many topics, they
shared processes that they implemented to assist the staff in handling their increasing inventory. I am
evaluating these processes to see if we can adopt something similar to assist our staff in handling our
volume of cases.
Met with the Executive Director of the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights. We discussed best
practices as well. Kentucky expressed an interest in visiting OCRC if not for OCRC Academy, then
another time where we can host them and have a workday meeting.
We are currently meeting with staff from Indiana and Kentucky commissions regarding case management
systems. It appears that many commissions are assessing their needs for a case management system, and
they are looking to OCRC for assistance and guidance since we are so far along in the process.
MEETING. Met with the Ohio Fair Housing Agencies to discuss several topics regarding the Ohio Civil
Rights Commission. The conversation was informative, and we are scheduling a follow-up meeting to
engage in further discussion.
FACAILITIES MANAGEMENT.
Akron is moving from the 2
nd
floor to the 4
th
floor. Akron will commence the move officially around the
16
th
of December. Once the move commences, Akron staff will telework until approximately January 2,
2023. These dates are tentative and subject to change. This move was necessitated because of the city of
Akron acquiring the building.
Toledo is now preparing for construction for intake rooms to better secure the staff. The documents to
affect this work are being reviewed. This work is being done with the consent and through the assistance
of the Department of Administrative Services, General Services Division, Office of Real Estate and
Planning.
Extra security measures have been implemented in regions throughout the agency, which includes card
readers, intake rooms, and bullet resistant windows.
COMBINED CHARITABLE CAMPAIGN. The Civil Rights Commission did not meet its goal, but the
staff was still extremely charitable, and for that we are truly thankful. This has been a very tough year for
many economically speaking and this was demonstrated by the donations statewide, which fell short of
the projected goals. Our donations totaled a respectable sum of $4,103.85. For those who were able to
give- a heartfelt thank you. I also want to thank our Combined Charitable Coordinator, Aman Mehra.
